Monkey brains

Buster: Chinese people are mean.

Nana: Why's that?

Buster: They eat monkey brains.

Nana: Everyone needs food.

Buster: But the monkeys don't like it! They torture them and then they eat their brains.

Nana: They don't torture the monkeys. It would make their brains taste bad.

Buster: The people like their brains to taste bad.

Nana's dream

Buster at Barnes & Noble: If we get drinks, we might spill them on the books, and then they'll make us work here.

Nana: Until we pay them back?

Buster: Yeah. And then we'll work and work and we'll get a lot of money and you can go to France, Nana.

Nana: Whoa -- how long are we going to work here?

Buster: Until you make your dream.

Where's the Doctor?

Buster discovered Doctor Who on Saturday. We watched with interest, though we had no idea at all what was going on.

I told him it was one of Pawpaw's favorite series (although he didn't get to watch it when I was around).

That brought Mike to his mind: On Sunday, he suddenly said: I was sad when Pawpaw died.

"I wish I could give you my money"

Nana, at Target: I wish I could have all of Giada's cooking pans, but they're too expensive.

Buster: I wish I could give you my money, Nana. And still have it.

Reading the dog's mind

Nana, petting the dog: You're a good boy, Mocha, yes, you are, yes, you are!

Buster: Nana, do you really think he is saying, "No, I'm not, no, I'm not"?

Not common at all!

Buster told me today that it is uncommon for house fires to start in the winter. I didn't contradict him -- I was too enchanted with his use of the word "uncommon."

What?

Buster: Nana, you're the one.

Nana: The one what?

Buster: The one one.
